Wire crochet
Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 8:36AM This morning I attempted my first beaded bracelet using wire crochet. I used a 28 gauge beading wire, variety of colored glass beads and a size E/3.5 mm hook.

I didn't follow a pattern per se, but based the bracelet on a You Tube video about crocheting a necklace with wire. Essentially, I chained 2, pulled up a bead and sc around it, then ch 1, sc around bead, and just repeat that with 15 beads in total, and ending with ch 2. I made 3 lengths like that, then braided them together and put the clasp on. It's definitely different working with wire, but I think the bracelet worked out ok! Next I might try a matching necklace.

I love the beadwork. It is beautiful!
Thanks :) Just what I needed, MORE crocheting supplies! lol
The beaded crochet bracelets and necklaces are GORGEOUS. I suggest you have a workshop and teach us how it's done. We'll even bring cheese.
And I'm excited to try the scrubber pattern. I just need to get myself some of that 2 ply plastic canvas yarn.
Thanks :) I love cheese! I keep looking at the pictures cuz I impressed myself with how well they turned out!
I bought my plastic canvas yarn at Michael's but it wasn't with the regular yarn, it was with the plastic canvas supplies...more expensive than regular yarn, but you only use a small amount for this. I think I might make some in more manly colors for my dad for father's day, he's always washing his vehicles and they'd be good bumper bug scrubbers!
